And now apparently THE FUCKING SKY IS FALLING

I went to a job fair at the Blockbuster Video at Dundas and Keele this afternoon. I stood in line with 50+ other applicants, who were being processed by one lady; it wasn't the most well thought out job fair I have attended. I went in wearing fancy pants and shoes, and a blue button up shirt. It was a real disgusting surprise to see how many people my age turned out to be wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt. I mean seriously, we're not talking about a job interview where you wear a suit and interview over lunch, but we are talking about a job interview. You would think people would understand that it is in their best interest to not look like an asshole. By the time my turn to interview came up there were 2 other interviewers, so the process was starting to speed up. I spoke with motorcycle riding Dian for about 15 minutes, we went back and forth over the usual 5 interview questions. I left with a pretty good feeling, I think I have a good chance of getting free movie rentals pretty soon.

Off to the Park

Tits and her cat, Cassidy, moved in yesterday. Tits showed up in the early afternoon and Serenitee and I helped move her stuff inside. Her room is currently stuffed to the rim, and she will be unpacking and setting up over the next little while.

Serenitee and I were going to run to Tim Horton's for coffee and cappuccino, but it proved to be way to warm out for that. We decided to go to Price Chopper for a few groceries we needed instead; the chilly grocery store was quite welcome. I reinstalled Windows on her laptop in the afternoon and made a pizza while the hard drive was being formatted. I played Jet Grind Radio for the Dreamcast in the afternoon, which was odd since it has been years since I played. Great game as I remember. I wonder if the 360 has emulation support for Jet Set Radio future? Anyone?

What an Eyesore

This morning my bad eye was killing me, it felt extremely scratchy and irritated, like there was a piece of glass stuck in it. It seemed very light sensitive and was watering an awful lot. Serenitee convinced me to get some Visine to see if it would help and to see the optometrist. I still need to go and do that part, but for now the Visine seems to be helping. I've used a few drops throughout the day and will continue to do so tomorrow as necessary. If there is no change in a few days I'll be going to a walk in clinic, as those motherfuckers who privatized optometry really fucked me over.

Now all of you non-gamers can leave the room, this part won't interest you. I bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 around Christmas time and only very recently got a chance to play it online. I really enjoyed the skirmish mode, but it was rather easy. So I finally get online and have two major complaints; latency is handled badly as strafing feels like a slip and slide, and the team I played against REALLY sucked. I don't know if they had never played the map I was on or what the story was, but I was pretty well unchallenged. In other gaming related news, I've decided the first thing I am going to waste money on when I get my first paycheque is a new World of Warcraft card. It's been a long time since I've played, so it will be nice to rejoin Mr. Forkes. My sister should join us in September or so, which will kick ass.

Interview

I got up this morning around 10:40, so I would be well rested for my interview at 13:00. Serenitee was looking extremely hot, she was all dressed up for her photoshoot today. She ran out the door before I made coffee, which I had to down pretty quickly. I set off to my interview at 12:10 so I could look over the products before hand. The store manager was extremely impressed that I was as early as I was. We went into the back room and I knocked the interview out of the park. When I pass the background check tomorrow I will now be in the business of retail sales, and one month from now I will be the top salesman in Toronto.

The Move

On 20060521 I became a resident of the city of Toronto. I've visited the city on numerous occasions over the years; to explore Wonderland as a child, to attend the Corel Linux launch conference as a teenager, and to smoke pot in Queen's Park last May. Never in my life did I think I would actually live in The Big City™, but here I am. The events that lead me to this point are irrelevant.

My hunt for work began on Tuesday, when Serenitee and I walked for 6 hours, stopping at every interesting store to drop off resumes and pick up applications. By the end we had 8 applications in hand and I had handed out 6 resumes. Wednesday was spent filling out said applications and applying online where appropriate. On Thursday afternoon I returned the applications to the Big Box Store Plaza™ which is near my house. Around 13:30 I received a call from The Source by Circuit City, and they want me to come in with ID for an interview tomorrow; FANTASTIC NEWS!
